Just as everyone remembers there first job, kiss, fight, etc…, I remember my first watch sent to me for review. Doing reviews combines two passions of mine- expressing my infallible opinion and getting free stuff, so it is beyond reasoning why I waited so long to contact these companies (or, in some cases, they contacted me). As implied, however, this is my first watch I’ve reviews and, as to be expected if you know me, my standards for what makes something good and what makes something bad are most likely not ones that are shared throughout the watch review community. I am not a watch aficionado (at least not in the face), I am an entrepreneur, and will review it accordingly.
Nautica NSR 103 Tide Compass
The Nautica NSR 103 Tide Compass Watch is a sturdy watch- I really like that about it. I don’t want something I will forget about on my wrist and I don’t watch some dainty timepiece with rounded edges- not that there is anything wrong with that, I just don’t prefer it. The case thickness of this watch is 14mm and the entire unit weighs 4.175 ounces.
The watch has a rubber sport band- if a watch has a synthetic band, I want it to be very clearly plastic. I don’t see anything wrong with synthetic bands, but I DO take umbrage at a company trying to pass off synthetic as from the earth- we could get into a discussion of semantics about the nature of treated materials and if if everything is “truly synthetic” once the mortal coil of man has wrapped around it but, why bother? I like the neon yellow rubber- it is a refreshing embrace.
My favorite feature about this watch is the nib at the end of the band. Too many times, I’ve had a watch band slide out its corral because of the un-undulated terrain. This is practical and I love practicality.
Colors are something I’ve always been attracted to. While my daily wardrobe is mostly dominated by blacks and whites (maybe a few reds, for good measure), a watch or any sort of jewelry allows me to derivate. The yellow watch accents my black clothing, and the orange nob accents the yellow watch.
Here’s the watch on my wrist. My hand looks absurd but that’s because I’ve got big hands. I don’t really do much diving (these Great Lakes waters are far too cold 9 months out of the year for me to venture in) but I am around the lakes a lot, so this would be a great watch to wear when I’m worried about the more liquid aspects of my beautiful Upper Midwest making a guest appearance on or around me.
